University of Limerick President Professor Kerstin Mey has paid tribute after a student passed away this week.
The body of 19-year-old UL student, Ronan Moran, who was in first year, was discovered at a premises in Castletroy in Limerick on Wednesday morning.
Prof Mey said: "I am so deeply sad to inform you of the passing of a valued member of our University of Limerick Community Ronan Moran, first-year Bachelor of Education in Graphics, Engineering and Technology."

She asked staff and students to hold his family in their thoughts, including Ronan's parents John and Geraldine, and his brothers Kevin and Fergal.
She added: "Our sympathies go out to all of Ronan’s classmates and lecturers, to his housemates, friends and fellow UL students and the many others who will be devastated by his loss."
A file is being prepared for the local coroner in respect of this incident, a Garda spokesperson told the Irish Mirror.
Gardaí do not believe there was any foul play involved in the death of the 19-year-old student as investigations into his death continue.
A Garda spokesperson confirmed: "Gardaí attended the discovery of a body at a premises in Castletroy, Limerick City at approximately 9:40am yesterday, Wednesday, 8th of February 2023.
"The body of a male aged in his teens was conveyed to University Hospital Limerick Mortuary where a post-mortem will take place at a later time. A file will be prepared for the Coroner in respect of this incident."
