University Hospital Waterford is closed to visitors due to a significant outbreak of Covid-19.
In a statement UHW management said: UHW is now closed to all visitors due to an outbreak. The outbreak is directly affecting three wards but precautions are in place for all of the hospital.
“Visiting can be arranged by contacting the relevant ward manager for exceptional circumstances such as critically ill patients, children or those who require special assistance. Thank you for your cooperation.”

Visiting will be reviewed daily according to hospital management. Patients who are critically ill will be allowed visitors in exceptional circumstances.
Medical staff are keeping the situation under review.
