University events company Nottingham Venues creating jobs following post-Covid bounce-back

The company which runs the University of Nottingham’s venues, meetings, events and hotel stays is creating jobs following a post-pandemic bounce-back.

Nottingham Venues needs to fill 10 roles after saying bookings for business and residential guests had returned to pre-lockdown levels.

The company, which already employs almost 250 staff, said it had also just received certification from the Living Wage Foundation. HR director Suzie Adams said the organisation was committed to paying a living wage to its workers.

She said: “We are actively recruiting again after a period of consolidation and recovery post-pandemic which now sees us back to the kind of occupancy and delegate levels that we were enjoying before.

“It is most welcome to have our commitment to paying our talented and hugely valued team members recognised but for us that is the least we can do.

“There is so much uncertainty out there in the economy and a great deal of that is not something that we can control.

“However, if are to attract and retain the talented team members that we need to continue to grow and offer the best possible experience to our guests, there are things we can do.

“That may mean in terms of remuneration, free meals on shifts or by striving to create a working environment that is not only rewarding but also full of opportunities to train, develop and grow in terms of career paths.”

Nottingham Venues incorporates a number of different places on and around the university campus including the Orchard Hotel, the Jubilee Hotel & Conferences, Hugh Stewart Manor House, Campus Venues (formally known as Nottingham Conferences) and East Midlands Conference Centre.
