Universal Pictures has announced a shift in the release date for Blumhouse's highly anticipated film, 'Wolf Man.' Originally set for October 25, 2024, the wide release has been moved to January 17, 2025. Directed by Leigh Whannell, known for his work on films like 'Invisible Man' and 'Upgrade,' the movie promises to be a blood-chilling reimagining of the classic Universal monster tale.
The plot centers around a man, portrayed by Golden Globe nominee Christopher Abbott, whose family is under threat from a deadly predator. Abbott will be joined by Julia Garner, reuniting the duo who previously starred together in 'Martha, Marcy, May, Marlene.' The script for 'Wolf Man' was penned by a team of writers including Corbett Tuck, Lauren Schuker Blum, and Rebecca Angelo.
The production is in the capable hands of Blumhouse founder and CEO Jason Blum, with executive producers including Ryan Gosling, Ken Kao, Bea Sequeira, Mel Turner, and director Leigh Whannell. The film is a collaboration between Blumhouse and Motel Movies.
In addition to the shift in 'Wolf Man's' release date, Universal has also made changes to the schedule for another Blumhouse project, 'The Woman in the Yard.' Originally slated for January 10, 2025, the release date for this film has been unset, with a new date yet to be announced.
'The Woman in the Yard' will feature BAFTA and SAG nominee Danielle Deadwyler in a leading role. Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, known for his work on 'Black Adam' and 'Jungle Cruise,' the film is shrouded in mystery with plot details being kept under wraps. The screenplay is the debut feature work of Sam Stefanak.
The production team for 'The Woman in the Yard' includes producer Jason Blum and executive producers Danielle Deadwyler, Jaume Collet-Serra, Gabrielle Ebron, Scott Greenberg, and James Moran. The film also sees the collaboration of Emmy-nominated filmmaker Stephanie Allain.
