Universal Credit claimants should expect to see a change in their ordinary payments next month as the first part of the £650 cost of living is paid out. The money is being paid to the lowest income families in a bid to help with the soaring cost of everyday essentials like energy, food and fuel.
The first instalment is due to be paid out on July 14, with £326 set to be paid into bank accounts. The second payment of £324 will follow in autumn, the Mirror reports.
The support comes as part of a package revealed by Chancellor Rishi Sunak in May. Energy bills have already surged by 54% this year and are expected to rise even higher.
