People claiming Universal Credit may also be eligible for a £156 Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
Figures from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) show that in January 2022 there were 5.6 million people across the UK receiving financial support through Universal Credit.
Universal Credit is a benefit intended to help those out of work or on a low income with daily living costs. The number of claimants is expected to rise this year, as rule changes mean an estimated 500,000 more people will be eligible.
