There’s always a good reason to visit Rome whether to hit the historical sites, bop off to an island jaunt to Capri, or use Italy’s capstone city as a launching point to Florence, Salerno, or Palermo, among other tourist hotspots.
That job just got easier with a flash sale from United Airlines that offers roundtrip airline tickets to Rome from U.S. hubs starting at $561 through September 26.

“As the internet continues to ask how often men think about the Roman Empire, United is joining the conversation on TikTok and making it easier for ponderers to experience the destination for themselves,” the airline said in a September 20 social media post.
The non-refundable and non-changeable tickets are green-lit for United flights to Rome’s Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport (FCO), according to Trip Advisor. Flights are valid from October 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024. Ticket prices do not include bad fees, the airline says.

US flights to Rome must be booked between Sunday through Wednesday and the Rome to U.S. flights should be booked from Tuesday to Friday. Blackout dates include the major U.S. late-year holidays of Thanksgiving (November 20 and 21) and Christmas (December 24 to 29). Blackout dates for returning flights are January 8 and 9, according to United.
In recent weeks, round-trip tickets from New York City to Rome cost about $980 for economy class, so the short-term deal could allow travelers to stack up some decent savings. The discounted U.S. to Rome airfares are for basic economy class flights.
Discounted flights to London, Paris, and Amsterdam from major U.S cities are also available on the United website for under $650 round trip ($535 for Paris) right now. Check the United App for other Europe flight deals.
