Illawarra will need to defy more than 20 years of history to win the NBL championship if they cannot ambush Melbourne United on the road in Game Two.

Since the NBL first decided its championship with a best-of-five grand final series in the 2003-04 season, no team has lost the first two matches and gone on to hoist the Dr John Raschke Trophy.
