Travelers scheduling journeys in the not-so-distant future ought to be aware that some major U.S. airlines have big plans in the works for 2024.
And a commonly understood trend seems to have garnered some serious attention of the carriers.

In September, American Airlines (AAL) -) announced a number of new international flights. They involve a transatlantic expansion that includes trips out of Philadelphia.
Those American flights feature travel to France, Italy and Denmark (Nice, Naples and Copenhagen.)
Delta Air Lines (DAL) -) has also revealed plans for summer flights across the Atlantic. The schedule includes its largest ever transatlantic enterprise and is currently available for booking.
It involves trips out of New York City to Munich, Naples and Shannon, Ireland. Delta canceled its Atlanta flight to Dusseldorf, Germany, but the airline added a route from Atlanta to Zurich.
United Airlines is flying to Europe earlier in the year
United Airlines (UAL) -) has now announced an ambitious schedule that has one important new change.
Its seasonal flights will begin in months so early in the year that one might wonder how they are classified as summer flights.
"Given how strong transatlantic travel demand is, United is starting its summer seasonal flights to Europe much earlier than before," wrote Ben Schlappig on One Mile At a Time.
"United claims that in the spring of 2023, it saw a 33% increase in customers traveling across the Atlantic compared to the spring of 2022," Schlappig continued.
Here are United's transatlantic flights that are taking off earlier in 2024, according to One Mile At a Time:
As of February 15, 2024, United will launch its seasonal Washington (IAD) to Lisbon (LIS) route
As of February 15, 2024, United will launch its seasonal Washington (IAD) to Rome (FCO) route
As of March 30, 2024, United will launch its seasonal Newark (EWR) to Nice (NCE) route

"My goodness, summer seasonal routes launching in mid-February really is a reflection of where the travel demand is, eh?" Schlappig wrote.
