A United Airlines jetliner en route to Mexico City from San Francisco was forced to make an emergency landing in Los Angeles on Friday due to a reported hydraulics issue. This incident marks the fourth emergency involving a United Airlines flight this week.
The plane, an Airbus A320 carrying 110 passengers, landed safely at Los Angeles International Airport at approximately 4:30 p.m. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among those on board. Fire engines were on standby at the airport but were not required for assistance.
United Airlines confirmed that passengers will be accommodated on another flight to Mexico, scheduled to depart later on Friday. The airline noted that the A320 aircraft is equipped with three hydraulic systems for redundancy, and initial findings indicated that the issue was isolated to one system on this particular aircraft.
The Federal Aviation Administration has announced that it will conduct an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the emergency landing on Friday.
This incident follows a separate emergency involving a United Airlines flight in Houston, Texas, where passengers had to be evacuated after the plane veered off a runway and became stuck in the grass. No injuries were reported in that incident, which involved 160 passengers and six crew members.
Additionally, another United Airlines flight bound for Japan had to make an emergency landing in Los Angeles after losing a tire during takeoff from San Francisco. Video footage captured the moment when one of the plane's tires detached and landed in a parking lot, causing damage to a vehicle and nearby property.
Earlier in the week, a United flight from Houston to Fort Myers, Texas, was compelled to turn back after one of its engines caught fire. Passengers onboard the Boeing 737 witnessed flames emanating from the engine but fortunately, no injuries were sustained.
