'Unique' Grade II-listed Bristol bungalow put up for sale

A unique one-bedroom bungalow in Totterdown has been put on the market. The Grade II-listed Coach House on Bellevue Road was built around 120 years ago and it’s for sale for just under £300,000.

The detached property is being sold by the current vendors who have lived there for the past five years. In that time, they have done plenty of work on the house including replacing the roof.

The single-floor property has one bedroom, a bathroom and a combined lounge/diner/kitchen measuring 7.63m x 3.73m. There is also a utility section with storage and the boiler, which was replaced in 2020.

The current owners say they have ‘thoroughly loved’ their time at the bungalow. It was their first property in Bristol and they are reluctantly moving on.

In a vendor statement on the website for Boardwalk, the estate agent marketing the property, the owners said: “The house being detached is fantastic and provides a real sense of privacy, peace and quiet, something we were really looking for. Overall, we are absolutely gutted to be selling as we love the place so much, but life moves on and our growing family needs some more space.”

It’s a property that certainly punches above its bungalow status and there is plenty of space. There are high ceilings and beams, with a hallway leading through to the living space that makes for the perfect blend of social and relaxing space.

The double bedroom has been opened up and is flooded with light through a new skylight and window. Alongside the cosmetic work the vendors have done to their home, they have recently painted the outside of the property, as well as fully waterproofing the bathroom.

The vendors say: “This was our first time living in Bristol and as far as areas go you can’t fault Totterdown for its community feel, parks, and distance from the city centre. The neighbours are especially friendly and welcoming, organising events and meet-ups on the community green around the corner.”

Bellevue Road is placed to the west of Totterdown, adjacent to popular Victoria Park, and the north of Perrett’s Park. It is close to the cafés, restaurants and independent shops on Wells Road.

The house is on the market with a price of £290,000. For more information, or to book a viewing, call Boardwalk estate agents on 0117 4539426 or click here.
