Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment A. Narayanaswamy, along with Kalaburagi South MLA and KKRDB Chairman Dattatreya Patil Revoor, on Monday inspected construction work going on at the Babu Jagjivan Ram Bhavan on the outskirts of Kalaburagi.
The Babu Jagjivan Ram Bhavan, which is under construction, should be built on the lines of Ambedkar Bhavan in Bengaluru. Besides good lighting and acoustics, it should have facilities for holding cultural programmes, the Minister added.
The auditorium with a capacity to seat 600 should also have the life history and achievements on display in the corridor, Mr. Narayanaswamy said and added that a statue of Babu Jagjivan Ram will be installed at the entrance.
Officials of the Public Works Department said that the bhavan has been proposed to be built at an estimated cost of ₹13 crore, of which ₹8.5 crore has been spent. The remaining funds of ₹4.5 crore is yet to be released.
