Union J star Josh Cuthbert admitted he thought a band reunion would have 'made his mental health worse'.
The boyband - consisting of George Shelley, Josh, JJ Hamblett and Jaymi Hensley - announced they are reuniting for a one-off concert and a documentary about their reunion later this year.
Josh recently revealed that their decision to reunite wasn't an easy one as he thought it could affect his mental health.
Speaking to OK! magazine, he said: "If you had told me two years ago there would be a Union J reunion and I’d be part of it, I would have thought that would make my mental health worse.
"It wasn’t simple, we’d be lying if we said that was the case. We’ve had to do a lot of healing over the past five or six years.
He went on to admit that it took the group 'a long time' to gain more confidence.
In January this year, Union J revealed they were sensationally dropped by their label back in 2014.
After the success of their 2014 album You Got It All, the boys were dropped by their label Epic Records - with the dumping leading to their eventual disbandment.
George left the group around a year later, with Josh following suit in 2018.
"We never told anyone we were dropped by our label and we didn’t get an explanation," Jaymi explained to The Sun when discussing their upcoming reunion.

"We didn’t speak about it, we didn’t go out to new labels to try to get a new deal, so we just pretended we were still doing album No3. We were lying to ourselves."
Reality TV star George added: "Our dreams were crushed. I was suffering a lot with my mental health at the time and it didn’t feel like there was much going on.
"I still wanted to remain friends with everyone and Jaymi and I stayed really close, I’ve seen JJ a tiny bit, and Josh and I haven’t seen each other in six years."
Their comeback concert will be happening this spring, marking exactly 10 years since their debut performance as a band on The X Factor.
Union J will be performing at the London Palladium on May 28, 2022.
