AMRITSAR: Unidentified motorcyclists shot at BJP’s SC Morcha general secretary Balwinder Gill at his residence in Jandiala Guru on Sunday night.
Gill had returned home after canvassing in Jalandhar Lok Sabha by-polls.
According to police reports, two motorcyclists whose faces were covered came to Balwinder's house and asked his daughter to call her father. As soon as he came out, the two assaliants shot at him from the point blank range.
Despite a bullet hitting Balwinder’s jaw he didn’t lose courage and confronted the attackers.
He was rushed to a private hospital where his condition is reported to be out of danger.
No arrests have been made so far. According to police, they were trying procure the CCTV footage to get some clues about the attackers.
Congress turncoat who joined BJP, Raj Kumar Verka visited Balwinder’s house.
He said, "it is unfortunate that the law and order situation in Punjab has turned from bad to worse, AAP government should arrest the assailants within 24 hours else BJP will lay seize on the houses of AAP’s MLAs and ministers".
