Unicorn Fest organisers 'dismayed' after statue's horn snapped off

The horn of a unicorn statue on a new art trail in Bristol has been snapped off. Unicorn Fest recently launched as part of the city's 650th anniversary celebrations, with all proceeds going towards charity Leukaemia Care

The unicorns, which have been designed and decorated by a host of regional artists, started popping up over Bristol at the start of the week. There are a total of 60 2m statutes across the trail which runs from Clifton Suspension Bridge to Weston-super-Mare.

Sadly, the organisers of the event announced this morning (June 29) that the horn of Butterfly Concerto has been snapped off. They say it will be repaired as soon as possible and have urged the public not to climb or stand on the statues.

The UnicornFest said on Twitter: "Unfortunately we need to report our first breakage of the trail. Less than 24 hours after being placed on the trail, the horn on the fabulous Butterfly Concerto has been snapped off."

They added: "We will be working as quickly as possible to repair this unicorn but we're dismayed this has happened even before the trail has begun. We urge all members of the public to enjoy the trail by simply looking and taking photos of the unicorns.

"Please do not climb or stand on the plinths and please do not touch their horns. We want as many people as possible to enjoy this trail and we need to avoid incidents like this.

"This is a charity event to raise money and awareness for Leukaemia Care UK and every single breakage takes away from money being raised to support leukaemia patients and their families."
