It’s not unusual for tennis balls to land in the grandstands at tournaments, so attendees usually know to stay alert during matches.
However, one shot during Monday’s Wimbledon match between Daniil Medvedev and Jiri Lehecka might be a one-in-a-million occurrence.
Lehecka returned a serve from the No. 3 player and popped the ball up into the stands. Wildly enough, the ball landed smack dab in a spectator’s Pimm’s cocktail, which is a gin-based drink specially prepared at Wimbledon. Needless to say, this doesn’t happen very often—if at all.
The moment when the ball plopped into the fan’s drink didn’t appear to be caught by cameras, but the aftermath was. The crowd cheered loudly for Lehecka’s lucky shot.

This is just one of a few “only at Wimbledon” occurrences at this year’s tournament. On Sunday, a chair umpire had to shush spectators in the crowd as they popped open a bottle of champagne. Can’t say that happens at many other professional sports tournaments.
Unfortunately for Lehecka, the Czech player retired from the round-of-16 match Monday due to injury. Medvedev will advance to the quarterfinals.
