A community campaign to install Opal gates at Hamilton station to shut out fare evaders and curb crime has hit a roadblock, with the state government arguing its heritage status stands in the way.

After successfully pushing the state government to fund CCTV on Beaumont Street, the Hamilton Community Safety Committee has turned its attention to the nearby train station.
