DHARWAD: Notorious criminal Baccha Khan, who is undergoing jail term at the Ballari jail, was nabbed by local police here on Saturday after he was found with his girlfriend at a lodge near Sattur off Dharwad.
Interestingly, Ballari police, who were escorting him to attend a case hearing at a local court in Dharwad, were found standing guard outside the room where the couple was meeting.
After completing the hearing, police escorting him took Khan to a lodge — where his girlfriend was waiting — and stood outside the room.
Acting on a tip-off, Hubballi-Dharwad police commissioner Labhu Ram sent a team of local police to raid the lodge and nab Khan.
Cops stood guard
Accordingly, local police caught the couple and sent them to Vidyagiri police station. It is learnt that every time Khan came to Dharwad for the court hearing, luxurious facilities were made available to him by police escorting the undertrial, said police sources. Khan, against whom several extortion cases are filed, is an accused in Fruit Irfan murder case.
