'Unbelievably stupid': Fans react to Wales star's horror tackle in Six Nations opener

Josh Adams was sent to the sin-bin in the second-half for what has been described an 'unbelievably stupid' tackle by rugby fans on Twitter.

With the ball running out of his control, he adjusted his run to collide with Jonny Sexton, who was competing for the ball, leaving the 36-year-old Ireland hurt on the ground.

Adams played out of position for the Six Nations clash with George North injured, starting at outside-centre instead of his usual role on the wing.

Rugby YouTuber 'Squidge Rugby' commented: "Unbelievably stupid by Adams. Almost as stupid as the decision to play him in the centre in the first place."

Irish rugby pundit Andy McGeady also commented, saying that the tackle was "silly, silly, silly" while fellow Irish rugby commentator Murray Kinsella said "So silly from Adams.".

He added: "Wales finally had a foothold with Basham's turnover tackle and the high tackle from Aki. That's just needless."

The ten minutes spent by Adams in the sin-bin saw Ireland pull away and secure a bonus-point as Andy Farrell's side secured an opening day victory.
