Recent activities by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) near the position of United Nations peacekeepers in southern Lebanon have raised alarm within the international community. The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) issued a statement on Sunday expressing deep concern over the IDF's actions within Lebanese territory near their position southeast of Maroun El-Ras village.
UNIFIL spokesperson Andrea Tenenti highlighted the precarious situation faced by the peacekeepers due to the exchanges of fire between the IDF and Hezbollah. Tenenti emphasized that the UNIFIL position is caught in the crossfire, with both Hezbollah and the IDF posing a threat to their safety. The IDF's installation of a post close to the UNIFIL base has further heightened tensions in the region.
