Umesh Vishwanath Katti, Karnataka’s Minister for Food and Civil Supplies and Forest and Ecology, passed away in Bengaluru late on Tuesday night following a massive heart attack. The 61-year-old BJP leader, hailing from Hukkeri taluk of Belagavi district, died in a private hospital.
His family sources said he had suffered heart attacks twice in the past. Revenue Minister R. Ashok, who briefed the media at Ramaiah Hospital, said Mr. Katti suffered a heart attack at his Dollar’s Colony home in Bengaluru and was rushed to the hospital. But doctors failed to revive him.
