Russian forces have reportedly pulled reserves from key battleground areas in Ukraine and Russian-occupied Crimea in an attempt to counter Ukrainian advances into Russian territory. According to Ukrainian military commander Dymtro Kholod, the Russian soldiers are being withdrawn from Zaporizhzhia, Crimea, and Kharkiv to defend Russia's Kursk region.
Kholod, who leads the “Nightingale” battalion, shared that the Russian troop movements have made it easier for Ukrainian defense forces in other areas. While acknowledging that further advances may become more challenging, Kholod expressed determination to continue pushing forward.
Having been part of the surprise cross-border incursion into Russia from day one, Kholod and his unit recently left the Kursk region. He noted that Russian troops were taken aback by the swift Ukrainian advance and some willingly surrendered during tactical encounters.
Kholod remarked on the contrasting motivations of the Russian soldiers, stating that they seem more willing to fight for Ukrainian land than for their own. Despite the challenges posed by the Russian troop withdrawals, Ukrainian forces remain resolute in their mission.
