A Russian oil refinery in the southern Krasnodar region was impacted by a suspected Ukrainian drone attack on Saturday, according to local officials. Regional governor Veniamin Kondratyev stated that Kyiv had launched drones in the early hours of the morning.
The oil refinery, located in Slavyansk-on-Kuban in Krasnodar Krai, partially suspended operations after 10 unmanned aerial vehicles flew into the facility, causing a fire to break out. Eduard Trudnev, security director for the Slavyansk ECO Group, mentioned that work at the plant had been partially suspended and that hidden damage was possible.
Russia's Ministry of Defense reported that Kyiv had launched 66 drones to attack the Krasnodar region, but all were intercepted. Fortunately, there were no casualties due to the refinery fire.
Ukrainian Energy Facilities Severely Damaged in Russian Attacks
Meanwhile, in Ukraine, four thermal energy plants were severely damaged after Russian attacks overnight, according to a statement from DTEK, Ukraine's largest private energy company. The attacks led to interruptions in the water supply in the Kryvyi Rih district.
Ukraine's Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko mentioned that facilities in Dnipropetrovsk, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Lviv regions were targeted. A power engineer at one of the facilities suffered a concussion, and there were reports of injuries and fires in various districts.
Belarus Allegations Prompt Evacuation of Kyiv Hospitals
Fears of a potential attack on medical facilities in Kyiv arose after Belarus claimed soldiers were sheltering within two hospitals. Videos surfaced online showing the head of the Belarusian KGB security service making these allegations.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko denounced the claims as a provocation and initiated the urgent transfer of patients to other medical facilities. By Friday evening, all patients were successfully moved, with authorities thanking medical personnel for their prompt response.
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) criticized the allegations, labeling them as part of a psychological operation benefiting Russia. Ukrainian authorities are monitoring the situation to ensure the well-being of the transferred patients.
