- The US president decided to temporarily ease sanctions on Russian oil for 30 days, allowing countries to buy sanctioned oil currently at sea, in an effort to stabilise global energy markets and curb soaring prices following the US president's war on Iran.
- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky criticised the move, stating it could provide Russia with an additional $10 billion to fund its war against Ukraine and does not contribute to peace.
- European leaders, including European Council President António Costa and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, expressed concern over the US decision, warning it could weaken economic pressure on Russia and impact European security.
- The UK government confirmed it would not follow the US in easing sanctions on Russia, with Energy Minister Michael Shanks reiterating Britain's commitment to maintaining pressure on Moscow.
