Ukraine war briefing: Russia threatens to attack Baltic states that aid Ukraine

  • Russia has threatened to attack countries in the Baltic that are allowing Ukraine to use their airspace to fly drones to attack Russia, following drone strikes on the Baltic ports of Primorsk and Ust-Luga, which are key to Moscow’s oil exports.
  • Ukrainian drones targeted Russian oil infrastructure, including the Baltic ports of Primorsk and Ust-Luga, and an oil pumping station in Krymsk, Krasnodar Krai.
  • Britain's defence minister, John Healey, revealed that the UK tracked Russian submarines in the North Atlantic for a month, identifying them as a threat to British undersea cables and pipelines.
  • US Vice President JD Vance criticised both Russia and Ukraine for continuing the conflict over minor territorial gains, urging them to negotiate a ceasefire, and also condemned Ukrainian President Zelensky's comments about Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
  • Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky welcomed a Middle East ceasefire, arguing it should not lead to eased sanctions on Russia, and stated Ukraine is prepared to reciprocate if Moscow halts its attacks.
