Ukraine touched by Liverpool's commitment to represent their culture

Ukrainian organisers involved in the EuroFestival lineup have praised Liverpool's dedication given to represent their culture.

The full EuroFestival lineup was announced yesterday with 24 unique commissions revealed to celebrate the Eurovision Song Contest. At the core of those celebrations is Ukraine's culture given the UK is hosting the contest on their behalf.

During the bidding stage to hold the contest, Liverpool made ambitious promises which have now been delivered and received warmly by Ukrainian representatives with a key part in the lineup.

The Ukrainian Institutes Creative Director, Tetyana Filevska, was in attendance for the EuroFest launch and shared her appreciation for the festival. She spoke candidly about the impacts of the EuroFestival and claims the Ukrainian people will never forget the incredible work done on their behalf.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, she said: "It's so incredible that Liverpool has done this for Ukraine when it wasn't ever really necessary. I feel such a sense of warmth and love that I will always remember and have to thank Liverpool for.

"Everything the team has done for Ukraine is so clear and we are so thankful for it. It's amazing to see so much culture represented, especially at such a difficult time for the Ukrainian people, and that our stories can be shared with the people of the UK."

Discussing the collaboration between Ukraine and Liverpool, she added: "It was a great privilege for us to work with the Liverpool team. I do want to thank the people of the United Kingdom on behalf of the Ukrainian people for being a true friend, for supporting us, for being our strategic partner in all senses, including hosting families and children, for supporting our army and for providing all necessary equipment.

"I want to say thank you for helping bring Ukrainian culture closer to the UK. Since June last year, we've been presenting the culture to the people of the UK and it's been a wonderful journey, something that serves as a platform for collaboration and I'm very happy of many of the outcomes from the Eurovision festival."
