Nuclear strike will be ‘incredibly serious mistake’, Biden warns Russia
Ukrainian forces on the southern front of the Kherson region are poised for battle as Russian troops are “replenishing” their forces in preparation.
Oleksiy Arestovych, an advisor to Volodymyr Zelensky, said there was no sign Russian forces were preparing to abandon the city,
“With Kherson everything is clear. The Russians are replenishing, strengthening their grouping there,” he said.
“It means that nobody is preparing to withdraw. On the contrary, the heaviest of battles is going to take place for Kherson.”
The Ukrainian president meanwhile accused Vladimir Putin’s commanders of using “crazy” tactics to escalate the war, as a fierce fight for Kherson looms with officials and military analysts have predicted will be one of the most consequential battles of the war since the invasion began.
Elsewhere, Russian forces struck the power grid in central regions of Ukraine overnight and further electricity supply restrictions are possible, grid operator Ukrenergo said today.
Russia has stepped up its strikes on crucial Ukrainian infrastructure including the power grid in recent weeks, leaving millions without electricity or heating.
