Recent reports from Russian state media have revealed that Ukraine has launched US-made ATACMS missiles into Russia's Bryansk region. This action comes after the Biden administration granted Kyiv permission to utilize these longer-range weapons against targets within Russia.
The Russian Defense Ministry disclosed that their air defenses successfully intercepted and shot down five ATACMS missiles over the Bryansk region. Fragments of the missiles landed on the premises of a military facility, sparking a fire that was promptly extinguished. Fortunately, there were no reported casualties or significant damage resulting from the incident.
If verified, this attack would signify the first instance of Ukraine deploying these extended-range American weapons to strike targets deep inside Russian territory.
