Ukraine defence minister says Russian invasion is now a European war

Ukraine's Minister of Defence has said that Russia's invasion of his country has become a European war.

In an impassioned rallying cry shared on Facebook this morning, Oleksii Reznikov said: "The war has become European. She was finally realised that way. Half of Europe is already collecting, packing, carrying weapons and armour equipment.

"The circle of states that provide real help has increased significantly. The scale of her has increased.

"Europe has already provided a temporary shelter to tens of thousands of those we want to save the most - our little ones and their mothers.

"We really don't have a border in the west now. But support is both in the south and in the Far East and behind the Atlantic.

"All of this is the merit of our defenders and defenders, of the whole Ukrainian people. Who refused to take advantage of the told tyrant. And who will surely win. Ukraine will win! Glory to Ukraine!"

The post, addressed to "Dear Ukrainians" also paid tribute to "96 hours of resistance.... four days of dedication, courage, dedication and faith days of dedication, courage, dedication and faith."

It acknowledged there had been "pain for those who knew life for Ukraine" and that "anger at the enemy who kills our women and children is destroying peaceful cities".

But Mr Reznikov said there was "confidence that he [the enemy] will be punished! Punishment is required!".

His post came after reports in Kyiv that Belarus was expected to enter the invasion on the side of Russia within hours.
