On Thursday, the European Commission presented its multiannual budget for external action. Amounting to €200 billion for the 2028–2034 period, it will focus on development aid and support to neighbouring countries, with a separate envelop of €100 billion planned for Ukraine.
“We have entered an era of growing challenges from climate driven instability and global migration pressures to rising competition over critical raw materials, global influence and market access,” Jozef Sikela, European commissioner for international partnerships, said, during the budget's presentation on Thursday.
