UK weather warnings explained: Met Office issues ice and snow warnings across UK

Met Office Storm Ciarán

The Met Office has issued yellow and amber warnings for ice and snow over the weekend across many parts of the UK, as temperatures plummet below freezing.

For London it has forecast night-time temperatures of just above freezing and rain on Sunday. Daytime temperatures in the capital are predicted to peak at 5C on Saturday and 11C on Sunday. Amber warnings are in place for both days.
