UK weather: Rain and freezing temperatures but 23C sunny weather too early for Jubilee

Brits are set for heavy rain and temperatures close to freezing before the sun arrives for the start of the Jubilee bank holiday and temperatures could hit 22C on Thursday.

The weather is set to improve as the week goes along and temperatures are rising over the Platinum Jubilee bank holiday meaning that the mercury could get up to 23C by Friday.

But there is always a threat of showers and there remains a lot of uncertainty about the weather over the weekend with the Met Office saying much depends on a low pressure lurking to the south west of the country.
