Two regions in the UK have been hit with weather warnings for rain and gusts of 55-65 mph.
A large area of southern Scotland and parts of Northumberland will experience "very strong and gusty winds" today, the Met Office said.
A yellow weather warning is in place from 6am until 3pm, with strong winds continuing into the afternoon before easing.
Locals have been warned some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely.
A yellow warning for rain, which began at 12pm yesterday, remains in place until 3pm in north-west Scotland, including the Isle of Skye.
Due to "persistent and at times heavy rain", disruption and flooding is likely in the region.
There is a risk some homes and businesses could be flooded too, forecasters have warned.
The rest of the country is expected to be "mostly cloudy" and "very mild", according to forecasters.
As the UK marks Armistice Day today, the Met Office said it is "exceptionally mild" for the time of year.
According to forecasters, this could be the UK's warmest Armistice Day on record.
Met Office Meteorologist Alex Deakin said the weekend will bring "misty and murky conditions" for many of us on both Saturday and Sunday, with "incredibly mild" temperatures.
He said a weather front pushing towards Northern Ireland, central and southern Scotland is likely to generate some outbreaks of rain on Saturday.
The weather expert added: "As the wind starts to ease, we are likely to see more mist and fog so it could be quite another pretty grey start to Sunday morning.
"Even where it stays grey, temperatures again will be well above average, getting into the teens and with a bit of brightness, 16C, 17C."
The north coast of Wales could see sunshine this weekend with the mercury going up to the high teens, perhaps close to 20C, Mr Deakin added.
It comes as the global population is about to reach eight billion and the UN warned one billion people could be refugees because of the climate crisis by 2050.
United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterrres said: "This milestone puts into perspective what this climate conference is all about.
"How will we answer when Baby 8 Billion is old enough to ask, ‘What did you do for our world – and for our planet – when you had the chance?’
"This UN Climate Conference is a reminder that the answer is in our hands. And the clock is ticking."
The UN estimates the world's population may grow to 8.5 billion in 2030 and 9.7 billion in 2050 and peak at 10.4 billion in the 2080s.
The rate of population growth varies hugely across the world.
The highest is in 10 African countries, with South Sudan topping the list at 5.5%. In the UK, it is just 0.53%. Next year India is expected to pass China as the world's most populous country.

Bus and train services could also be affected by weather conditions, with some journeys taking longer than usual.
