Brits are set to be battered by torrential rain and gales with gusts of 55mph on Wednesday morning.
The Met Office has yellow warnings for rain and wind in place to start the day and for much of the week there will be blustery conditions although temperatures are set to remain mild for the time of year.
The UK was hit by the knock-on effect from Hurricane Ian last week with a low pressure over the country and there are similar conditions over the coming days.
A warning for strong winds is to run until 11am on Wednesday and covers a line that runs from south west Wales up to south east Scotland where winds could reach 55mph or more.
The Met Office states: “A small chance of disruption from strong winds on Wednesday.”
It adds: “There is a slight chance of some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs. There is a small chance of longer journey times or cancellations as road, rail, air and ferry services are affected."
There is also the possibility "that power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage," and "that injuries and danger to life could occur from large waves and beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads and properties.”
The warning for rain runs until 9am and covers the south west of Scotland.
"Remaining unsettled over the next few days and turning fresher tomorrow with a strong wind. In fact through Tuesday evening and overnight there are two weather warnings in force," Met Office forecaster Clare Nasir said.
"Across Irish Sea coasts that is where we are likely to see gales if not severe gales for a time into the early hours of the morning with gusts reaching around 55mph perhaps even slightly higher and then this weather front extends down towards the south east as we head into the afternoon with fresher air behind.
"First thing on Wednesday morning that rain will yet again be heavy for a time, it will clear Northern Ireland through the first part of the morning with some sunshine and showers.
"Rain then extends down towards much of England and Wales and we again could see some heavy bursts as we see the sun come out across Scotland but watch out for some blustery showers.
"Some blustery showers also for northern England, the Midlands and the West Country in the afternoon, an overhang of cloud across the Midlands as well as East Anglia, the south east as the rain clears towards the near continent."
The rain is set to continue for the rest of the week with outbreaks of sunshine but it will remain mild with temperatures in the mid to high teens in most areas.
