A lengthy period of 'changeable' weather in the UK will continue as meteorologists predict more challenging conditions in the days to come.
Forecasters are keeping a close eye on a number of movements across the Atlantic, with several bands of adverse weather expected to arrive into the weekend and beyond, according to the Met Office.
Showers and blustery winds will move down the country from the northwest on Thursday, with more concentrated "pulses of rain" then appearing in a number of northern areas on Friday.
A short reprieve on a mostly dry Saturday will then be followed by unsettled conditions on Sunday brought by high pressure, a pattern which is expected to repeat until at least the middle of next week.
Speaking in the Met Office's 10 Day Trend report, Alex Deakin said: “The pressure pattern for the next few days will be dominated by low pressure to the north and high pressure to the south.
“Plenty of isobars are on the charts, meaning it’s going to stay pretty blustery. At times we’ll see these weather fronts drifting through, bringing bands of showery rain across the country.
“Up until Saturday, we’re going to see a mixture of sunshine and showers with strong, blustery westerly winds.”
The new forecast comes hot on the heels of an already miserable week weather-wise for some parts, as flash-floods left a number of major roads impassable in Swansea on Wednesday morning.
Three more flood alerts have been issued for the next 24 hours by Natural Resources Wales for the western part of the country.
In England, the Environment Agency has put in place five flood alerts and one 'act now' flood warning for Keswick Campsite in the Lake District.
