Brits are set for a hot and humid day with showers in many areas but still escaping the south east where there will be 30C highs.
It was an unusually dry July in the UK and while there was some rainfall in the north west, very little fell in the south east.
And the outlook for August is for plenty more dry weather for the south east and high temperatures which will get into the mid-30Cs next week according to maps from WXCharts.
After a muggy night with rainfall in the north west of the UK, there are expected to be more showers this morning which should ease off by the afternoon. In the south west it could remain damp throughout day while London and the south east is dry.
Temperatures, though, are widely in the mid-20Cs with 25C also in eastern Scotland.
Met office forecaster Aidan McGivern said: “Humid air coming in an area with low pressure, a couple of weather fronts crossing mainly northern and central parts of the country as we start off Tuesday and that rain will be heavy for southern Scotland, northern England, into the north Midlands, north west Wales, perhaps the odd rumble of thunder as well.
"Now the heaviest of the rain pushes away by lunchtime, skies brighten for Scotland and Northern Ireland, a few sunny spells coming through here, a few showers as well in the north west where it will be breezy.
"But for Wales and the south west I think it will stay damp and gloomy through much of the day but 23C, 24C nevertheless, and hot and humid towards the south east where it stays dry with sunny spells - and 25C also notable for eastern Scotland.”
Showers overnight for north west and damp south west “remarkably warm” 18C or 19C across England going into Wednesday where it is likely to be a similar day although slightly cooler with highs of 28C and dropping to the high teens in Scotland and the far norht of England.
