UK weather forecast: Parts of UK to be hotter than Madrid this weekend after showers

Temperatures are expected to soar again this weekend with parts of the country enjoying sunshine warmer than Madrid.

But before the glorious warm weather returns showers will strike much of the nation on Friday amid warnings of snow fall and sub zero temperatures to come.

While there are rain showers predicted for the weekend, the temperature in London will be relatively high and according to the BBC, London will be warmer than Madrid on Saturday, reports My London.

The Met Office predicted that the east of the UK will see chiller weather from Thursday night before a dip in temperatures across the south with cloudy conditions expected.

But the northwest of the UK and west will be brighter and clearer.

On Friday the northwest will see the best of the daytime weather with the Met Office describing it as “fairly warm”.

But there are also cloudy conditions predicted which are set to disperse across the more northern areas of the south, and temperatures in London will drop and won’t rise above 15 degrees.

Part of the southeast is also facing patchy showers.

However, while temperatures still won't reach the dizzy heights of 20C, London can expect highs of 17C on Saturday and Sunday - making the capital warmer than the Spanish capital Madrid on Saturday, which according to the BBC will have a high of 16C.

According to the Met Office Saturday and Sunday will see “sunny spells and scattered showers” in the east and south.

The weather report added that the weather would be "breezy through the weekend. Rather warm in the south and west, but colder by Monday".

Meanwhile, parts of Britain are bracing for sub-zero temperatures as early as next week and just days after scorching temperatures following a balmy Easter weekend.

A Met Office forecaster earlier warned temperatures could plummet in the early parts of next week after Brits enjoyed the hottest day of the year on Good Friday.

Temperatures are drop to as low as 4C in London next week, and as cold as freezing in Scotland, parts of Belfast and across parts of northern England.

Met Office forecaster Tom Morgan told the Express that "some rural spots" could even see lows of -3C in overnight frosts during the first part of the week.
