Brits are bracing for some freezing mornings over the coming days where temperatures could drop as low as -4C before recovering with highs of 17C, according to the Met Office.
A high pressure system is covering the UK bringing with it clear skies and so frosty nights but also warm weather during the day.
While not hitting the unusually balmy highs earlier in April, where the mercury rose to 23C, it has remained warm.
BBC weather forecaster Chris Fawkes said: “It was southern areas of both England and Wales that had the best of the day's temperatures on Tuesday. Temperatures of 17C in parts of of south west England.”
And the Met Office’s Clare Nasir said that the high pressure system is set to continue over the country for the rest of the month.
The clear skies are also meaning a scarcity of clouds and rain in April with parts of central and south eastern England having only received 30% of its usual rainfall over this month.
The sunny skies could head into the bank holiday weekend although the chance of rain increases as the week goes on.
“Settled through the rest of April with some chilly nights but temperatures will recover into the weekend. We will certainly notice the difference on the east coast,” said Ms Nasir.
“High pressure extends down from the north across much of the UK through Wednesday, a light breeze, the air though is rather chilly so expect a frost first thing across one or two rural spots and then over the next few days it remains in place keeping any weather fronts at bay coming in from the west or south.
"And then we will see an invasion of cloud and rain as we head through the weekend across the far north west."
It means that it could get a slow as -4C but will get up to a warm 17C during the day in some areas.
"For the time being, Tuesday into Wednesday things look fairly quiet, a small chance of a shower along this east coast with particularly Lincolnshire, East Anglia where we will see a bit of a breeze," said Ms Nasir.
"In land clearer skies, starry skies at that, and it’s going to turn cold. So temperatures dipping down close to freezing but in one or two rural spots we could see values as low as -1C to -4C, certainly the southern uplands, Northumberland, Cumbria as well as the glens of Scotland. So it will be a sunny start to the day come Wednesday morning and a bright one with some sunshine."

Generally dry to start with bright or sunny periods and variable amounts of cloud, feeling pleasantly warm in any sunshine. Cloud and rain moving into northwest through Sunday. Winds light.
