UK weather: Ferocious 70mph winds to fell trees and cause travel chaos as warning issued

United Kingdom Met Office the Met Office

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for strong winds that are expected to reach up to 70mph in southern parts of the UK.

The warning has been put in place for parts of southern England and the south Wales coast, from 9pm Thursday evening until midday on Friday.

Coastal areas will see wind speeds of 50-60mph, with 70mph expected to hit exposed hillsides and headlands.
