UK weather: Britain to be hotter than Magaluf TODAY with temperatures to hit 19C

The UK is set to hit temperatures hotter than in Magaluf today as Brits enjoy another couple of days of sunshine.

Forecasters expect a maximum temperature of 19C on Wednesday followed by highs of 17C on Thursday.

Both days are expected to bring bright sunshine and “long sunny spells," MyLondon reports.

Meanwhile, temperatures on the Costa del Sol will peak at 18C on Wednesday, making London hotter than the south of Spain.

BBC weather forecaster Matt Taylor said: "For those of you who have extended your Easter break into this week there is some good weather news in that there will be a lot of dry weather around.

"Admittedly there will be some showers, more especially in the next 24 hours and as the week goes on an increasing breeze will turn eastern areas that bit cooler."

This evening will be a mainly dry and bright evening with late spells of sunshine, forecasters say.

Overnight will be dry with long clear spells and just some patchy cloud around, mostly across western areas.

The mini wave of sunshine over the next couple of days will be followed by cooler weather heading into the weekend.

Friday and Saturday will bring cloud with some spells of sunshine, with showers possible throughout the weekend.

The mini heatwave does not quite reach the dizzying heights that were expected, with Mr Dale, of British Weather Service, telling the Express last month: “I wouldn’t be surprised to see 26C, 27C, 28C in the middle of April.”

Parts of Britain could be plunged into sub-zero temperatures as early as next week mere days after being blessed with scorching temperatures following a balmy Easter weekend.

And after the warm weather this week, a Met Office forecaster is warning temperatures could plummet in the early parts of next week after Brits enjoyed the hottest day of the year on Good Friday.

Temperatures are drop to as low as 4C in London next week, and as cold as freezing in Scotland, parts of Belfast and across parts of northern England.

Met Office forecaster Tom Morgan told the Express that "some rural spots" could even see lows of -3C in overnight frosts during the first part of the week.
