UK weather: Britain to be hotter than Barcelona - check forecast in your area

Britain is to be hotter than Barcelona as temperatures soar to 19C, according to forecasters.

Another rise in temperatures is expected after the Easter bank holiday weekend when thermometers rose to 23C making it this year's hottest temperature.

Temperatures fell on Saturday a little but on Easter Monday the mercury still reached 17C and forecasters expect them to rise again later this week.

It will remain chilly today at around 2C or 3C in the South West of England but across the country they are levelling at around 5C.

Later on Tuesday afternoon, thermometers are expected to be as high as 15C in the South East of England.

Further warm air means Wednesday could see the mercury rising to 18C which will mean the UK will be hotter than Barcelona which will reach only 14C.

BBC weather forecaster Matt Taylor told the Mirror : "For those of you who have extended your Easter break into this week there is some good weather news in that there will be a lot of dry weather around.

"Admittedly there will be some showers, more especially in the next 24 hours and as the week goes on an increasing breeze will turn eastern areas that bit cooler."
