UK to personally sanction Putin and foreign minister ‘imminently’

Boris Johnson has announced that the UK will “imminently” level personal sanctions against Russian President Vladimir Putin and his foreign minister Sergei Lavrov, PA reports.

The Prime Minister has reportedly told Nato leaders in a virtual meeting today (Friday, February 25) that the UK would echo measures announced by the EU to target the Russian president.

And President Joe Biden later announced that the US would be freezing the assets of Mr Putin and Mr Lavrov.
