'UK’s richest gypsy' lands at seaside golf course in signature £4m ‘G-YPSE’ helicopter

A signature helicopter belonging to the UK’s self-styled richest gypsy has been spotted landing at a seaside golf course.

Millionaire entrepreneur Alfie Best’s chopper - with the registration G-YPSE - was clocked at Seaton Carew Golf Club in Teeside on Tuesday morning.

The businessman, whose net worth is £754m placing him at 232nd on the Times 2023 Rich List, was visiting the nearby holiday park home site Sea Breeze, which he owns.

He is the man behind Wyldecrest Parks, the largest residential park and holiday home operator in the UK - and he's also the UK's richest gypsy, a title he is proud to hold.

The 53-year-old told Teeside Live that he was in the region to check on his investments and oversee development work currently going on at the park.

He explained: “Sea Breeze is a park that we bought that had no investment in it. When you're doing a park like that it's very important that you go on there and see some of the residents old and new.

"Because you can't make an omelette without breaking an eggs, and it can sometimes cause a bit of upset when you're doing new development on the park."

The entrepreneur, who has previously appeared on hit ITV show Undercover Boss, is passionate about bringing affordable homes to people and feels that park homes are the solution to affordable luxury housing.

Alfie, who was born in a caravan, said he feels that people in the North East from working-class backgrounds have 'the same heart' as him, so he enjoys anytime he gets to chat with his residents.

He said: "The people in the North East are real sort of salt-of-the-earth people. For that sort of reason - I'm from a very poor working class family myself, I'm a gypsy so I was born in a caravan - when I'm dealing with working class people, I'm dealing with people that have got the same heart as myself."

During his flying visit, Alfie oversaw works to modernise Sea Breeze Park and spoke with some of the residents living at the site about ongoing work. He even made some time to grab a quick chippy tea before flying off back home to his Surrey mansion.

Alfie added: "It's always a pleasure to visit Wyldecrest's Sea Breeze Park in Seaton Carew which in my opinion is a real gem of a northern sea side town which retains some real charm.

"I was checking over developments we have going on on the park and met some of our fantastic residents new and old. I also had time to grab some fish and chips with peas, my favourite from Seaton Carew and love them ."
