UK's most hated Celebrations chocolate revealed - and it's not Bounty

The chocolate that people least like to find in a tub of Celebrations has been revealed - and it isn't Bounty, despite manufacturer Mars Wrigley moving to ban the coconut-filled sweet from the confectionery assortment. The company's decision to offer Bounty-less tubs at 40 Tesco stores in the run-up to Christmas as part of a trial follows a survey which found 39% of consumers wanted mini Bounty bars to be axed from the Celebrations range.

In light of this, online supermarket Britsuperstore analysed over five million internet search results to see what the British public actually think - and which chocolate is actually the least liked in a Celebrations tub. The study discovered the nation's least favourite Celebration chocolate is Milky Way, which received less than 8,000 searches over the last five Christmases compared to the top result, Maltesers, which can be crowned the nation's Celebrations favourite having received over 170,000 searches.

The results also indicate that, last Christmas, Galaxy was the most enjoyed chocolate of the tub. It was searched for more than 100,000 times.

  • Mars bar - 53,997
  • Bounty - 84,519
  • Snickers - 91,080
  • Maltesers - 179,014

Searches made last year

  • Milky way chocolate bar - 2,282
  • Galaxy Caramel - 2,294
  • Twix - 11,118
  • Bounty - 11,549
  • Mars bar - 12,772
  • Snickers - 22,635
  • Maltesers - 37,567

Richard Price, director of Britsuperstore, said: "It's no surprise that Maltesers has taken the top and been crowned the nation's favourite as it's something the whole family can enjoy. However, getting rid of Bounty can be quite a controversial decision as the searches do speak for themselves that the public still enjoys them at Christmas so this is a brave step for Mars."

Mars is removing the Bounty from tubs of Celebrations sold at 40 Tesco Christmas Market locations. The Christmas Markets will run between November 8 and December 18, where customers will be able to swap their normal box of Celebrations for a 'No Bounty' tub.
