- Foreign secretary Ed Miliband announced 38 new sanctions targeting Russian oil companies, shadow fleet tankers, crypto platforms, and military supply chains during a visit to Ukraine alongside President Volodymyr Zelensky.
- The announcement was made at the site of a Russian missile strike in Pryluky, Chernihiv, where 22 civilians were killed, leading Miliband to condemn Vladimir Putin’s strategy as evil and label the targeting of civilians as war crimes.
- The latest measures expand UK sanctions to cover more than 90% of Russia ’s total oil production capacity and penalise 12 additional shadow fleet vessels, bringing the total number of sanctioned tankers to over 600.
- Financial evasion routes and military supply chains were also targeted, including three cryptocurrency exchanges, two payment platforms, and 17 entities supplying machine tools and electronic components for Russia's missile and drone programs.
- Alongside the sanctions package, the UK opened its first dedicated Kyiv Business Centre to enable British firms, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises, to establish a permanent presence and invest in Ukraine.
