Nurses who belong to the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) went on strike in England over pay for the first time last year.

RCN members rejected a pay offer of a 5% pay rise and a one off sum of £1,655 last spring. However, the deal was backed by most other health unions and the government imposed it.

Amid problems of recruiting and retaining nurses – the NHS in England alone has over 40,000 nurse vacancies – we want to find out what impact financial pressures are having on them.
