UK ministers have been urged to act after a US diplomat accused of possessing indecent images of children was reportedly taken out of Britain, with Conservative justice spokesperson Nick Timothy warning that the circumstances could represent a 'cover-up' and saying the individual should face trial in an English court.

The Guardian reported that US officials searched the individual's London home in August before taking him to an American airbase and flying him to the United States. The Metropolitan Police has confirmed that US authorities told the force on 25 August about an investigation into suspected offences in London relating to indecent images of children.
