UK homes could face up to £5,000 fine if not decorated properly for Queen's Jubilee

The Queen's Platinum Jubilee is just under a month away now and will see homes and streets lined with decorations to celebrate the big event.

But, Brits are being reminded to decorate their properties safely so no one comes to any harm. If you have any visitors who face accidental harm, the occupant or home owner might end up having to pay. This is because you have a duty of care to anyone coming to your home which means you could be liable if any accidents happen by decorations put up.

This duty of care means you should make sure your property is ‘reasonably safe’ including any driveway or steps. If you are aware of a specific hazard, you must take measures to highlight the hazard to those approaching your property, reports BirminghamLive.
