Ujjain MP who was challenged to lose weight, loses 32 kilos in 8 months

Ujjain MP Anil Firojiya has reduced by 32 kilos in less than one year! Thanks to the challenge given by Nitin Gadkari who had promised to give him Rs 1000 crore per kilo of weight reduced.

Firojiya had embarked on the weight loss journey in February after he was challenged by Nitin Gadkari in an event in Ujjain.

He had started with 127 kilos!

Shed 15 kilos in 4 months

"Union Minister Nitin Gadkari had told me on stage that for each kilogram I lose, I will earn Rs 1000 crore for development works in Ujjain," Firojiya had told ANI in June, 4 months into the challenge. By this time he had lost 15 kilos.

Strict diet is his secret

The MP who was more than 100 kilos in the beginning has revealed his weight loss plans.

He has a simple and effective morning routine. He wakes up at 5.30 am and goes for a morning walk. This is followed by running, exercise and yoga.

"I follow an Ayurvedic diet chart. I take light breakfast. For lunch and dinner, I eat salad, one bowl of green vegetables and one roti made up of mixed cereals. Occasionally I take carrot soup or dry fruits in between," he told ANI.

And the ‘challenge’ money...

After losing 32 kilos, Firojiya informed Nitin Gadkari about it. Keeping his promise, the Union Minister has approved development plans worth Rs 2300 crores for the region.

"I met the Union Minister and told him and he was very happy to know about it. As promised, he has approved development plans worth Rs 2300 crores for the region," Firojiya told ANI.

The reason

In February, while throwing this challenge Gadkari had said that "I made a condition to allocate funds to Firojiya ji. Once my weight was 135 kilos more than that of Firojiya ji. But now my weight is 93 kg. I showed him my old photograph. It is hard to recognise me in that photo."

Government’s Fit India movement

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the Fit India movement in August 2018. The movement has been launched with a vision of encouraging every Indian citizen to adopt a physically active lifestyle. The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) is the nodal ministry for implementing the Fit India Movement in coordination with other stakeholders.
