We have Justin Bieber to thank for many things. The 2010s hits, the endless influx of street style inspiration and the ongoing belief that we could be that one less lonely girl if he ever asked. What we absolutely do not have to thank him for was UGG’s rapid exit from the fashion scene upon deeming the boots “ugly.”
UGG boots have had a colourful history since the brand’s inception in 1978. Founded in Australia by surfers Brian Smith and Doug Jensen, the shearling-lined boots became a core feature of surf culture, thanks to their laid-back appeal and bulky design. UGG boots are traditionally made from sheepskin and complete with a thick fleece lining, making them a solid function-over-fashion staple.
